MG* New Music Review: Solange: Solo Star!

It's time for round two of Solange's solo effort. Except, this time Solange is experienced, and it SHOWS on her latest singles. With all the news that's been surrounding her in the past few years, the Solo Star puts it all into perspective in "White Picket Dreams". AND we kinda digg it. It has a cool neo-soul feel to it, but that's no surprise because Solange has been known to like neo soul artists; Q-tip hosted her 21st birthday! how cool is that?

Anyway tell us what you think... We think Solange needs to hook us up with those shoes!

MG* Guy Spy

T.I.- So there is a God. At least we think so, MG* peeped a very bronzed T.I. in south beach at club PRIVE in Miami. We only wish that when we went to Miami it looked as good as this. [sigh]

Mario- The oh-so-cool Mario was spotted at Duvet in NYC last Sunday hosting "Pillow talk Sundays". He looks suave as usual. This event also featured the 'oh-so-cool rapper' Cam'ron.

Jim Jones- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! We heard it was a celebration for Jim Jones and by the looks of the pictures, (Baaaallllliinnnn-Sorry, had to say it.) the place was HOT! Anyway, we wish the Capo an even hotter year! sweat looks kinda good on you Jim. :)

MG* 'Update Ya'

Gotta Have IT: Bitten

It's our favorite city girl!! Takin over the fashion scene once again!! Only this time she's saving us $$$. Ms. Parker plans to launch a clothing line this summer that we absolutely love! It's a cross between GAP & H&M at Target prices. And speaking of prices...drumroll please...everything in this line is under $20! Yup, you read right, $20. WE AGREE SJP Fashion shouldn't be a luxury. On second thought, shoes are a luxury :)

CONGRATS! in case you missed it, Jaslene is the winner of America's Next Top Model! Congratulations Jaslene, we were rooting for you!!

MG* Designer of the Week: Calvin Klein!

I've always had a clear design philosophy and point of view about being modern, sophisticated, sexy, clean and minimal. They all apply to my design esthetic. -- Calvin Klein in Women's Wear Daily.

Material G! Spy!

Kelly Rowland- Kelly we see you taggin' the wall! Kelly looks nice as usual in the pic. MG* spotted her in her Hometown of Houston, TX coming from an interview with the Mad Hatta. She was there promotin her new album which MG* thinks is gonna be hot. Watch out Bee, Kelly's comin for the number 1 spot!

Lil Kim- MG* recently spotted Kim in NYC the other night at club Reign. She looks like she's hangin' out with her bee hive, just tryna have fun. Go Kim!

Beyonce- When you see that girl comin back up! Bee was spotted on stage in Sydney earlier this week, and by the looks of things she was rockin a Tina Knowles original. ;) She was shakin' her jelly as usual and will soon be in a town near you. So we can re-live B'day all over again!

MG* Quote of the Week: Halle Berry

"What's the worst that can happen? If it doesn't do well I can put on my big girl panties, deal with it and move on."
-Halle Berry

Also, CONGRATULATIONS! Halle, on your new Hollywood star!

MG* New Music Review: Eve!

Just in case you don't watch TV One daily and you actually miss Eve, the pitbull in a skirt is back! In the words of Tyra, her new single cover is fierce. As for the actual song, it's a certified club song. But, it's definitely not what we're use to from Eve. Swizz Beatz produced this track and he delivers as usual, but, Eve seems like she has come a long way from her Philly roots.

TOP 5 VACATION SPOTS FOR SUMMER 2007

TOP 5

VACATION SPOTS FOR

SUMMER 2007

1. TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

Welcome to Trinidad and Tobago, a unique Caribbean paradise. There is no place in the world quite like this tiny twin island republic of 1.3 million ethnically diverse people. Bursting with spirit and a heady mix of cultural activities, beautiful people, eco adventure and culinary delights, Trinidad and Tobago has something for everyone. Located just off the tip of Venezuela, Trinidad, the larger and livelier of the islands, is an industrial giant boasting exciting nightlife, a robust energy sector and growing manufacturing industry. (http://www.visittnt.com/about1.asp)

2. PUNTA CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Play in the waves, relax under a swaying palm: one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, the lovely Punta Cana shoreline is protected by law, ensuring that no manmade structure can detract from this natural beauty. These calm tranquil beaches are perfect for those who love to enjoy their favourite watersport, sample the great diving. Punta Cana is famous for its European style hotels and shopping for traditional local arts and crafts. Punta Cana's golf courses are second to none. (http://www.webdominicana.com/albums)

3. MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA

Being the Second City in Jamaica is not easy; it is like being the second child in a family, not always first, not really last, but you get to wear the hand-me-down's from your older brothers or sisters. So not everything gets fixed in time, roads and other infrastructure need repair. HOWEVER we have always been the Tourism Capital of JAMAICA and nobody can take that away from us. Because the Montegonians are proud people, always different from the Kingstonians, the Big City people; we call ourselves "The Republic" and "The Friendly City" and that's what we are. (http://www.montego-bay-jamaica.com/about.htm)

4. CANCUN, MEXICO

A Cancun vacation means long stretches of white beaches leading to the bluest waters of the Caribbean Sea making it a top destination for beach lovers. The Cancun 'Hotel Zone' offers luxurious hotels that provide a great base for daytime activities such as snorkeling by the reef or lazing on the beach to an unsurpassed night of fun with some of the best nightlife in the world. Downtown Cancun is the place to go for authentic Mexican food and to see the life and culture of 'real' Mexico. Plenty of tours, nightclubs, restaurants, water sports and ancient Mayan ruins in near proximity mean there is something for everyone. (http://www.cancuncare.com)

5.
SOUTH BEACH, FLORIDA

There’s no doubt that Florida makes a fun vacation destination for travelers of all disposition, but a certain type of person probably isn’t satisfied with common scenes of golf courses, beachcombing and quiet strolls along nearly-empty sidewalks. These kinds of areas are perfect for those looking to escape the madness of the world, but sometimes a different kind of madness does the job just as well. South Beach is famously filled with energy, nightlife options, celebrity sightings and beautiful people. If these are the things that would best take you away from your current situation, providing you with the kind of vacation you need to calm you down and loosen you up, there’s no place like South Beach. Material Girl! New Music Review: Ms Kelly ft. Eve

Remember, when we 'told yall we was gonna bump like this?' and we gave yall a preview of this song? Well, here the video for it and it kinda hot. The song features Eve and honestly we couldn't have chose anyone else. Eve's voice compliments the track and the pitbull in a skirt looks nice in the video too. Check it out and tell us what you think?

Material Guy! Music Review

Replacement Girl byTrey Songz & Drake- This track is very radio friendly. It has the snap music influence, but it's a lot smoother. Although, the rookie rap artist on the track sounds a little like Bow Wow, he adds a little flair to the song. You can find it on Trey's myspace; www.myspace.com/treysongz. So go check it out!

LIFE ADVICE

TOP 4

Reasons Why Girls

Can Not Handle

Being A ‘BUDDY'!

By: Erica A. Nelson

1. WE ARE
WAY TOO EMOTIONAL!!

Girls try really hard to pretend that being in a relationship based solely on sexual intercourse does not bother us, BUT IT REALLY DOES! We are way too emotional and intercourse is emotional in itself! We can not handle not cuddling or having an intimate conversation after having sex. It is not in our nature. Sorry!

2. DEEP DOWN WE REALLY WANT A REAL RELATIONSHIP!

Since we were little girls, we had beaten into our heads the importance of meeting our prince charming and someday getting married and having children. We were always taught to be in a real relationship not just being someone’s sex partner you know.

3. WE ARE UNDOUBTEDLY JEALOUS!!

When it comes to relationships, girls are undoubtedly jealous and possessive. We want guys to love us more than they love their own mothers! It’s sad and kind of crazy, but true. So, if we are having sex with a guy we do not want to be considered their FRIEND!

4. WE CAN NOT TAKE SEEING OUR MAN WITH ANOTHER WOMAN!!

We can act like we don’t care that Michael is over there talking up a storm with Tina, but deep down inside we know that we are burning up. We might not outright say anything later on when Michael calls, but we will act real nonchalant and vexed until he asks “What’s wrong with you? What did I do?”

MG! Spy: Material Guy

Jay-Z- Even though this picture is definitely all about Beyonce, MG! spotted Jay-Z in the background though. They were leaving from a New York restaurant, looking suave as usual ;)

Ludacris- Luda was in the ATL shawty, for an in-store appearance for Ralph Lauren. It is definitely obvious that Luda' has been hangin' around Mr. Shawn Carter. He looks really nice, even with the yellow tie. Just kidding, we like the look Luda. Keep it up!

Adrian Grenier- So, recently, the handsome Adrian Grenier was spotted in Los Angeles at an HBO event. His pictures are always refreshing to see, MG! says kudos to the photographer!

What do you think?

MG! Spy: Material Girl

Lindsay Lohan- Whoa...Lindsay we love the new hair color but not the new look! Lately, we've been seeing a lot of Miss Lohan partying around town with her new hair color. Maybe blondes do have more fun!?!? Who knows, but this is LL Cool Hair and May Andersen at a recent event in NYC at the plumm.

Beyonce- Recently Beyonce was seen speaking at the house of Dereon Media Center in her hometown of Houston, TX. We didn't even know H.O.D.(House of Dereon) had one of those. Beyonce, looks nice as usual...MG! wants to be like her when we grow up.

Rosario Dawson- Congrats Rosario! Ms. Dawson recently won an award at the ShoWest ceremony. She won in the best supporting actress category. Maybe, she can help Lindsay get it together!?!!

Angelina Jolie- Angelina pictured being chauferred in Vietnam, where she and Brad plan to adopt another little boy. The couple supposedly wants to eventually "even out the races" in their home so there is two of every race within the home. Soon they'll be able to open up their own school with all those kids.

Toccara & Beyonce- Recently, America's Next Top Model Toccara celebrated her 25th birthday. Pictured here with Beyonce, Toccara celebrated with a slew of other celebs as well. MG! hopes we will look as good as these ladies do at quarter of century!

Ashlee Simpson- Rumors that Ashlee Simpson was working on her third album are somewhat confirmed with this pic. Ashlee is seen leaving lunch and on her way to the studio in NYC recently. All we have to say here at MG! is...Those boots are Fierce!

Material Guy! New Music Review: Bobby Valentino

We can't really seem to escape Timbaland's beats these days, but thats ok with us. Bobby V. hooked up with Timbaland and made a hit! At, first all of us here at MG! weren't sold on the song, but after hearing it again, the hook is contagious. It sounds a little like the new stuff we have been hearing from Justin Timberlake, except with "Anonymous" Bobby V. adds a little more flair. Check out his MySpace!

Quote of the Day

"The Sky Ain't No Ceiling!"
-Jill Scott, Def Poetry '07

Material Guy! Music Review

Extraordinary by Ma$e- This song is sooo catchy is ridiculous! It's a good look for Ma$e considering he's been on a bit of a hiatus since his solo project. This song is kinda hot and definitely has the potential to be a summer anthem but, whatever happened to Rev. Mase? Check his Myspace

Because of You by Ne-Yo- Ne-Yo has truly has his signature sound with this song. This song picks up where his last cd left off but still manages to sound new. No set release date for the new cd but its sound like it'll be worth the wait!

Promise Not 2 Call by Ryan Leslie Ryan is proving to be the fresh new sound the industry was missing with this song. It's a good break-up or "let's move on" song. Check him and his new songs out on his MySpace

What Do U Think?

Material Girl! Music Review

Winning Women by Rihanna & Nicole Scherzinger- Thanks to Secret deodorant, these two power women have teamed up to create the catchy song "Winning Women". Produced by Sean Garrett, the beat is up tempo and compliments their voices. Look out for the new ads featuring Nicole and Rihanna!

Like This by Kelly Rowland f. Eve - This song is from Kelly's upcoming album Ms Kelly, and the song definitely shows growth. It's a good look for Kelly, with a new sound. Not really sure, but the beat sounds like its from Polow Da Don, who has worked with Ciara, Fergie, and Rich Boy. Regardless, Ms Rowland is hot on this track and you can find her new album in stores 06.26.07.

Beautiful Liar by Beyonce & Shakira- Although, this song isn't really the norm for Beyonce, she and Shakira are definitely fierce in the video. You can find this along with other new tracks on Beyonce's re-release of B'Day.

What do you think?
